.

subtract that from the 28, you'd have six feet.

.

MR. TUGGLE: l~ich is narrower than a car. I know you
can't do it because there are cars parked along there and you
have to wait for the oncoming car to go by before you can go.
This is in the summer too.

MR. CHRISTOFFERSEN: Village standards on improved streets
are 34 feet.

MR. TUGGLE: Does that mean they're going to widen Floral
Drive?

MR. CHRISTOFFERSEN: That's up to the Council.

MR. DELBERT JOHNSON, 1359 Colleen Avenue: I see a very
emotional issue before you. I don't see any real solution,
like a number of people are stating, to the problem. We have
children and access to the park. We appreciate Floral Park,
we don't want to damage Floral Park, nor do we want any of our
kids to be injured going to Floral Park. An increased traffic
flow on Colleen Avenue is a risk to our children getting to
Floral Park - we have the same problems you people have. We
have the same common goal - safety. That's one thing. But now
we have an economic issue involved and they're talking about
$247,000, plus widening Floral Drive. In Everett Dirkson's
terms, a billion dollars here and billion dollars there, pretty
soon you're starting to talk about real money. Maybe we're
starting to talk about real money here now. All of these con-
siderations, someone is obviously going to have to pay for them.

RITA SCHUNICHT, 1469 Colleen Avenue: I have a couple of
questions. First of all, as far as the assessments for the
road through the park - I'm wondering who would pay for that
and I'm wondering if it would make a difference if the people
on Colleen Avenue would express a desire to help with that,
considering that we are paying for something that will benefit
us in terms of reduced traffic. My other question is -
regarding the traffic on Floral and Hamline - ~ believe there
was something brought up last time about another alternative
for helping to ease that. I'm wondering if we could have that
repeated.

.

MR. POPOVICH: There are 18 lots that would be benefitted
and they would be the ones that would be assessed for this.
Unless the City Council put some of it on general taxes -
then you would get more than Colleen - you'd get the rest of
the City as part of the project. Is Colleen in the assessment
area?

MR. CHRISTOFFERSEN: No.

MR. POPOVICH:
either, so there's
lots and then some

They're not in the area that was published
no way we can say we'll put some on the 18
on the other ones, because they were never

13
