Minutes of Special Council Meeting <br /> <br />February 1, 1982 <br /> <br />, January 28th - $100,000 at Oak Park Heights for 6 months, <br />maturing 7-28-82 at 14.75% interest. <br /> <br />Johnson moved, seconded by Hollenhorst, that Council ratify the <br />Treasurer's investments. Motion carried unanimously (4-0). <br /> <br />OTHER BUSINESS <br /> <br />Public Safety Committee Recommendation - Stop or Yield Sign at <br />Edgewater/Prior Avenues <br />Johnson reported that the Public Safety Committee recommends <br />denial of the request. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />McAllister moved, seconded by Johnson, that Council deny the re- <br />quest for a "stop" or "yield" sign at the Edgewater/Prior Avenue <br />intersection at this time based on the Public Safety Committee's <br />recommendation that it is not warranted for traffic volume or <br />safety reasons. Motion carried unanimously (4-0). <br /> <br />Committee Appointments <br />Upon recommendation of Council members Johnson and McAllister, <br />Mayor Woodburn appointed Don Halva as a member of the Board of <br />Appeals for 1982. <br /> <br />Johnson moved, seconded by Hollenhorst, that Council ratify the <br />Mayor'e appointment. Motion carried unanimously (4-0). <br /> <br />Other potential committee members who have volunteered or been <br />recommended for appointment will be contacted by Mayor Woodburn. <br /> <br />Resignation - Finance Committee <br />Council was referred to letter of resignation from the Finance <br />Committee from Frank Hlavka. <br /> <br />McAllister moved, seconded by Hollenhorst, that Council accept <br />with regrets Frank Hlavka's resignation. Motion carried unani- <br />mously (4-0). <br /> <br />RecyclinK Unlimited Request for Drop-off Facilities <br />Council was referred to McNiesh's memo of 1-29-82. After dis- <br />cussion, in which some concern was expressed relative to appropri- <br />ate zoning, possible "litter" problems, and need for facility, <br />matter wae deferred. <br /> <br />Request for Time Extension for Payment of Park Dedication - <br />Janet Estates <br />It was noted that Council previously granted an extension to <br />December 1981 for payment of the Jsnet Estates park dedication, <br />and granted an extension for filing the amended plat of Janet <br />Estates to June 8, 1982. <br /> <br />McNiesh explained that the initial request for extension for pay- <br />ment of the park dedication was to June of 1982 (Council granted <br />the extension to December 1981). <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />After discussion, Johnson moved, seconded by Hollenhorst, that <br />Council require payment of 50% of the balance due of park dedica- <br />tion now, and approve extension of payment of the other 50% to <br />June 8,1982, with interest at 14% annual rate. Motion carried <br />unanimously (4-0). <br /> <br />~blic Works Supervisor Johnansen Requests: <br />(memo of 1-28-82) <br /> <br />A. Temporary Employee _ <br />McAllister moved, seconded by Johnson, that Council <br />approve the hiring of Todd Langenbach at $6.50/hr. <br />per Johansen's memo of 1-28-82, effective February 2nd. <br />Motion carried unanimously (4-0). <br /> <br />-)- <br />
