<br />I <br />I ARDEN HILLS CITY COUNCIL - SEPTEMBER 30. 1996 9 <br />f' Mayor Probst declared a short recess at 7:43 p.m. The meeting was reconvened at 7:46 p.m. <br /> In consideration of those present in the audience, the Council agreed to revise the agenda to next <br />I consider Agenda Items I, J, and K, followed by consideration of Agenda Items D, E, F, B, C, G, <br /> H, and L. <br />I I. Planning Case #96-14, Bernard Brouillette, 3320 Lake .Johanna Boulevard, <br /> Variance <br />I Mr. Ringwald reported that the applicant is requesting approval offront and side yard setback <br /> variances to allow for the construction of a 24 foot by 30 foot detached garage. The front yard <br />I setback is proposed to be 20 feet while 40 feet is required and the side yard is proposed to be five <br /> feet while ten feet is required. <br />I The Planning Commission is recommending approval of the front yard setback variance, but is <br /> recommending denial of the side yard variance. Mr. Ringwald stated that since the time of the <br />I Staff report, the applicant has agreed to shift the garage to accommodate the ten foot side yard <br /> setback. <br />.. MOTION: Malone moved and Aplikowski seconded a motion to approve Planning Case #96- <br /> 14, Vernard Brouillette, 3320 Lake Johanna Boulevard, Variance, 20 foot front <br /> yard variance (detached garage) based on the seven rationale outlined by the <br />I Planning Commission and maintaining a side yard setback of 10 feet as required <br /> by City Code. The motion carried unanimously (5-0). <br />I J. Planning Case #96-15, Thomas & Jean Fabel, 1550 Edgewater Avenue, Variance <br />I Mr. Ringwald reported that the applicant is requesting approval offront and side yard setback <br /> variances to facilitate the remodeling of a single tuck-under garage into a two-car tuck-under <br /> garage. The remodeled two-car tuck-under garage would extend 2.1 feet into the required 40 <br />I foot front yard setback and 7.0 feet into the required ten foot side yard setback. He noted a letter <br /> which had been received from George and Elizabeth Morse, 1540 Edgewater Avenue, in favor of <br /> the proposal. <br />I Mr. Ringwald stated that the Planning Commission is recommending approval of the 7.0 foot <br /> side yard and 2.1 foot front yard setback variances. <br />I MOTION: Malone moved and Aplikowski seconded a motion to approve Planning Case #96- <br /> 15, Thomas & Jean Fabel, 1550 Edgewater Avenue, Variance, 7.0 foot side yard <br />I variance (east) and Variance 2.1 foot front yard (north) to allow for the <br /> remodeling of a single tuck-under garage into a two-car tuck-nnder garage based <br />f' on the rationale outlined by the Planning Commission.
