Except as otherwise <br />specifically authorized by this code, the affordable dwelling units shall <br />be located within the development. <br />5) Standards for Affordable Dwellina Units. <br />(a) Size and design of affordable dwelling units. The developer shall <br />not designate specific units for affordability. They shall be the <br />some desian. size and materials as market -rate units. <br />(b) Distribution of affordable dwelling units. The affordable dwelling <br />units shall be incorporated into the overall project unless <br />expressly allowed to be located in a separate building approved <br />by the city council. Affordable dwellina units shall be distributed <br />throughout the buildin <br />(c) Number of bedrooms in the affordable units. The affordable <br />dwelling units shall have a number of bedrooms in the <br />approximate proportion as the market rate units. The mix of <br />market rate and affordable dwellina units shall be aooroved by <br />the city. <br />(d)Affordable dwelling unit size. The affordable dwelling units shall <br />have room sizes comparable to the room sizes in market rate <br />dwelling units. <br />(e) Tenants. Rental affordable dwelling units shall be rented only to <br />income eligible families during the period of affordability. AA <br />household that was income eligible at initial occupancy may <br />remain in the affordable dwelling unit for additional rental <br />periods as long as the income of the household does not exceed <br />one -hundred forty percent (740%) of the applicable AMI. <br />6) Non -Discrimination Based on Rent Subsidies. Develooments <br />covered by the chapter must not discriminate against tenants who <br />would pay their rent with federal, state, or local public assistance, <br />including tenant based federal, state, or local subsidies, including, but <br />not limited to rental assistance. rent suoolements. and Housina <br />Choice Vouchers. <br />
