<br />Minutes of Regular Council Meeting, August 25, 1986 <br />Page 4 <br /> <br />September Council Meetina Schedule <br />Hansen moved, seconded by Peck, to schedule the following September Council <br />meetings. <br /> <br />Regular Council meetings - September 8 and September 22 at 7:30 p.m., <br />Village Hall. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Special Joint Council/Finance Committee meeting - September 17 (Wed.) at <br />7:00 p.m., Village Hall. <br /> <br />Special Arden Hills/Shoreview meeting - September 13 (Sat.) at 9:30 a.m. _ <br />Arden Hills Village Hall. <br /> <br />Motion carried unanimously. (4-0) <br /> <br />Other Business <br />Council was referred to Ramsey Coun~y memo re Civil Defense Sirens, to be in <br />effect by January, 1987. It was noted that future siren maintenance will be <br />the responsibility of municipalities. McNiesh noted that the cost for siren <br />maintenance has been incorporated in the 1987 budget; possible salvage value of <br />existing sirens is unknown; memo is not clear as to whether new sirens or only <br />activators are needed. <br /> <br />Arden Hills/Shoreview Joint Meetina, Saturday, Auaust 23 <br />Hansen briefly reported on the topics discussed: <br />- suggested new proposal for managing and funding fire stations: <br />Station #1 (New Brighton Road) - 100% Arden Hills <br />Station #2 (Highway #49) 50/50 split Shoreview/North Oaks <br />Station #3 (County Road I) Shoreview <br />Station #4 (exact location to be determined ) 50/50 split <br />Shoreview/Arden Hills <br />shared funding stations - to have a governing board, rotating members. <br />need for an aerial and a ladder truck. <br />daytime fire fighters - possibility of recruiting from local businesses. <br />ISO rating - anticipated savings. <br />Solicitation for ladder truck/aerial truck contributions (local <br />businesses) . <br />Site location for Station #4 - should involve LJVFD, Arden Hills and <br />Shoreview planners and Consultant Quirk. <br /> <br />Lake Johanna Infiltration <br />Weed and debris infiltration into Lake Johanna from Little Lake Johanna _ <br />Hansen reported 20+ large bunches of weeds, tires, oil slicks, etc. into Lake <br />Johanna, suggested this problem be referred to RCWD. <br /> <br />Northwest Suburban Youth Services Award <br />Hansen suggested the following as award nominees, commending them for their <br />involvement and assistance: <br /> <br />- Deputy Robert Arneson - response to a suicide and a fiery crash. <br />- Deputy Frank Herbst - concern for children and participation in local <br />parades. <br />- Doug Scott - concern for elderly and disabled. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Council concurred with the nominations to be made by Hansen. <br /> <br />Board of Appeals <br />Upon recommendation by Hicks, Mayor Woodburn appointed Barbara Piotrowski as <br />Chairman of the Board of Appeals for the balance of 1986. <br /> <br />Hicks moved, seconded by Hansen, to ratify the appointment. Motion carried <br />unanimously. (4-0) <br /> <br />REPORT OF CLERK ADMINISTRATOR CHARLOTTE MCNIESH <br /> <br />Chanae in Rates - Wood lake Sanitary Service <br />McNiesh notified Council that Woodlake Sanitary Service has raised its rates <br />from $9.50 to $10.50 per month, effective 9/1/86. <br />
