Motion carried unanimously. (5-0)

North Oaks Letter re Fire Contract and Shoreview Letter re South End Station
Council was referred to the two letters which were paraphrased by Woodburn.
Hansen expressed her concern that Council hold a special work meeting relative
to this matter; feels Council hasn't sufficient information; suggested Council
seek a professional evaluation. Sather concurred the Council needs outside
advice as to what we need to best serve Arden Hills. Hicks asked if Shoreview
had a consultant; if so, asked if Council could see its study report, or be
advised who made the study.

Hansen said there may be other options for fire protection; would like to know
what they are. Peck said he feels the Fire Department should tell us what we
need, not we tell them; noted they have the expertise, not us. Sather said he
does not feel the Council is in a position to assess the needs and options that
are best for this community.

Hicks said he feels we should tell Shoreview that we want to study this matter,
and to not close the door to us on the south station; advising that we are
interested in considering this station. McNiesh noted that Shoreview is
holding off on their appraisals pending our answer. Hansen suggested a work
meeting in a week, in an effort to respond to Shoreview by the end of the
month. Sather said it may take 60 - 90 days to obtain a consultant and receive
an evaluation of needs; suggested we tell Shoreview we do have an interest in
the south station pending our study; if the location is found to be suitable,
okay, if not, we will not have any obligation.

.

Council concurred to hold its comments relative to Mr. Burek's letter draft to
LJVFD, to the May 27 meeting.

REPORT OF CLERK ADMINISTRATOR CHARLOTTE MCNIESH

Claims and Payroll
Sather moved, seconded by Peck, to approve the Claims and Payroll as submitted.
Motion carried unanimously.
