<br />-'" <br /> <br />,- <br /> <br />Minutes of Special Council Meeting <br />Village of Arden Hills <br />Wednesday, January 2, 1985 - 5:30 p.m. <br />Vi 11 age Hall <br /> <br />Ca 11 to Order <br />Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, Mayor Woodburn called the meeting <br />to order at 5:35 p.m. <br /> <br />Roll Call <br />Present - Mayor Robert Woodburn, Councilmembers Nancy Hansen, Dale Hicks, <br />Gary Peck, Thomas Sather <br />Absent - None <br />Also Present - Treasurer Donald Lamb, Clerk Administrator Charlotte McNiesh. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Oaths of Office <br />'Hicks administered oaths of office to Mayor Woodburn, Councilmen Peck and Sather, <br />Treasurer Lamb and Clerk Administrator McNiesh. <br /> <br />1985 Village Appointments <br />Hansen moved, seconded by Peck, to approve appointments as attached. Motion <br />carried unanimously. Motion carried unanimously. (5-0) <br /> <br />Resolutions <br />Hicks moved approval of Resolution No. 85-1, DESIGNATING OF DEPOSITORIES AND <br />CORPORATE AUTHORIZATION RESOLUTION, Resolution No. 85-2, DESIGNATION OF AD- <br />DITIONAL DEPOSITORIES FOR INVESTMENT PURPOSES, Resolution No. 85-3, RESOLUTION <br />DESIGNATING BROKERAGE FIRMS FOR INVESTMENT IN FEDERAL GOVERNMENT INSTRUMENTS, <br />Resolution No. 85-4, RESOLUTION FOR TRANSFER OF FUNDS BY TELEPHONIC INSTRUCTIONS, <br />Resolution No, 85-5, RESOLUTION APPROVING 1985 LABOR AGREEMENT WITH INTERNATIONAL <br />UNION OF OPERATING ENGINEERS, LOCAL NO. 49. Motion was seconded by Hansen <br />and carried unanimously. (5-0) <br /> <br />1985 Committee Appointments <br />Hansen moved to approve committee member appointments as attached, seconded <br />by Peck and carried unanimously (5-0). Council noted that there are openings <br />on the Public Safety, Public Works, Cable TV Advisory and Newsletter Committees, <br />and suggested that the Town Crier solicit volunteers. <br /> <br />Claims <br />Hicks moved, seconded by Hansen, that claims be approved as submitted. Motion <br />carried unanimously (5-0). <br /> <br />Council Meeting Schedule <br />Hansen moved, seconded by Hicks, that a Special Council Meeting be scheduled <br />for January 14th at 6:30 p.m. at Shoreview City Hall and that the Regular Council <br />Meeting on January 14th be scheduled for 8:00 p.m. at the Arden Hills City <br />Hall. Motion carried unanimously (5-0) <br /> <br />. 1985 Umbrella and Public Officials Liability Insurance <br />McNiesh reported that the umbrella premium was $3,100 in 1984, will be $6,000 <br />in 1985 and that public officials liability premium will increase from $850 <br />to $1,200; Insurance Agent Hite suggested that other carriers might provide <br />the same coverage at a lower premium. Hansen moved, seconded by Hicks that <br />Council authori~e McNiesh to change carriers if the same coverage can be obtained <br />at a lower premium. Motion carried unanimously (5-0). <br /> <br />Other Business <br />Hansen briefly reviewed the Voto Report on the benefits, and financing of the <br />Firemen's Benefit Association, noting that: <br /> <br />- The Fire Department and Benefit Association are two separate entities. <br /> <br />_ Annual contributions to the Benefit Association from the Fire Department <br />and State Aid are more than annual pension benefits currently being <br />paid. <br /> <br />> <br />
