<br />Minutes of Special Council Meeting <br />Wednesday, January 2, 1985 - 5:30 p.m. <br />Page Two <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Monthly pension was raised to $245 in 1983 and is retroactive, i.e. <br />applies to all retired firemen. <br /> <br />The average pension for volunteer firemen in other cities is about $200. <br /> <br />The 1983 unfunded accrued liability (page 10) of $522,244 is not what <br />they owe currently. <br /> <br />- Ooes not include new firemen for third station. <br /> <br />- City representatives have not been invited to pension board meetings. <br /> <br />- Recent pension increases have not been approved by the cities. <br /> <br />Woodburn noted that this is not a vested pension. Retired firemen must serve <br />20 years and be 50 years of age to receive a regular pension. income on <br />investments is figured at 5%.
