<br />Minutes of Regular Council Meeting October 29, 1984 <br />Page three <br /> <br />Recommendation - Public Works Su ervlsor ointment <br />Richard Schultek, a rman of the Pu I c Works Committee, <br />reported the concerns the Committee had when advised of <br />Johansen's retirement; Committee wants someone with expertise <br />who also will work well with Council, Public Works Committee, <br />City residents and City personnel. Schultek said twenty <br />applications were receIved and reviewed by the Committee, <br />after which six applicants were Interviewed by Mayor Woodburn, <br />Public Works Supervisor Johansen and himself. Schultek reported <br />that Robert Raddatz (Sartell) was selected on a basis of 1,2 & 3, <br />receiving 2 #Is and I #2, and Is recommended to Councl I for <br />appointment as the new Public Works Supervisor for Arden Hills. <br /> <br />After discussion, Hicks moved, that Council approve the hiring <br />of Robert Raddatz as Public Works Supervisor at $32,500/year <br />pius use of pickup truck, with no mileage charge If he 1.lves <br />, in Arden Hills, and after 6 months performance review, a salary <br />adjustment be considered. Motion was seconded by Mulcahy. <br /> <br />After further dIscussion, Hicks moved, seconded by Mulcahy, to <br />amend the motion to provide for $IOO/month Increase after 6 <br />months of satisfactory performance. Motion carried unani- <br />mously. (4-0) <br /> <br />Original motion carried unanimously. (4-0) <br /> <br />Cost Estimate - street LI~ht, County Road E <br />Council was referred to a cost estimate from Peoples Electric <br />Company In the amount of $3400.00 for labor and material to <br />instal I a street light at County Road E and Hamllne Ave. <br /> <br />After discussion, Hicks moved, seconded by Hansen, that, based <br />on the estimated cost of the light installation, Council not <br />Instal I the light. Motion carried unanimously. (4-0) <br /> <br />Bituminous Sealcoatinq Project, Payment No. I and Final - <br />AI lIed Blacktoppln~ <br />Council was referred to letter from Engineer Christoffersen, <br />and to the contractor's application for payment No. I and final. <br /> <br />Hansen moved, seconded by Hicks, that Councl I approve payment <br />No. I and Final In the amount of $39,475.30 to Allied Black- <br />topping. Motion carried unanimously. (4-0) <br /> <br />Petition for Street LI~hts at Amble Drlve/ Lexlnqton Ave. <br />and Pleasant Clrcle/Lexlnqton Ave. <br />Councl I concurred to refer the petition to the Public Safety <br />Comm I ttee for Its racommen dat I on s to Counc I I. I t was note d <br />that the request consists of two outlets to Lexington. Wood- <br />burn noted that the resolution establishing street lighting <br />policy (Resolution No. 79-52) provides that vehicular activity <br />may be estimated by Judging the number of houses which would <br />use a collector street and multiply by seven, or by actual <br />vehicle count; noted that because this area has two outlets, <br />the vehicular activity could then be divided by 2. <br /> <br />Status Report - Third Fire Station <br />Hansen reported that LJVF Dept. wants to earn equity In the <br />I building @ 10%/yr., Instead of 5%/yr.; noted that 7%/yr. was <br />suggested as an alternative, which she feels Is reasonable, <br />but was apparently not agreeable to Shorevlew. Hansen reported <br />that Shorevlew prefers 4%/yr. Council concurred that 7% seems <br />a reasonable option. <br /> <br />Resolutions Apportlonlnq Assessments <br />Hicks moved, seconded by Mulcahy, that Councl I adopt: <br />Resolution No. 84-43, Impr. No. P-80-I, Woodbridge <br />Properties, Phase I. <br />Resolution No. 84-44, Impr. No. P-77-4, Woodbridge <br />Properties, Phase I. <br />Resolution No. 84-45, Impr. No. SS-W-P-ST 81-3, Dunnett. <br /> <br />Motion carried unanimously. (4-0) <br />
