<br />. <br /> <br />.~ <br /> <br />Minutes of Regular Council Meeting <br />Village of Arden Hills <br />Tuesday, May 29, 1984 - 7:30 p.m. <br />Village Hall <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Ca II to Order <br />Mayor Woodburn cal led the meeting to order at 7:32 p.m. <br /> <br />Roll Call <br />Present - Mayor Robert Woodburn, Thomas Mulcahy, Michael Christiansen, <br />Kathleen Rauenhorst, Dale Hicks. <br />Absent - None <br />Also Present - Treasurer Donald Lamb, Engineer Donald Christoffersen, Clerk <br />Administrator Charlotte McNlesh, Deputy Clerk Dorothy Zehm <br /> <br />Approval of Minutes <br />Hicks moved, seconded by Rauenhorst, that the Minutes of the May 29th Council <br />Meeting be approved as amended. Motion carried unanimously. (5-0) <br /> <br />Business from the Floor <br />None <br /> <br />Proposed U.S. Armv Reserve Center - Maior AI Sternke <br />Major Sternke Introduced Project Architect Bob Miller; explained that the <br />proposed project Is to expand their faci Ilty In Arden Hills from a 400-man <br />center to 800; have requested additional land from the arsenal; proposal Is <br />for three buildings: <br /> <br />- maintenance company administration <br />- maintenance shop <br />- maintenance primary warehouse <br /> <br />Sternke explained that they wi I I need an access from Lexington, across from <br />Tomlyn Avenue In Shorevlew; noted that there wi II be about 40 full time people, <br />generally, and 2 reserve weekends/month, also some In and out movement of <br />vehicles to Camp McCoy. <br /> <br />Miller explained that their existing site Is 6.4 acres; propose to expand site <br />to 12-15 acres for the building complex and parking. Miller explained that the <br />existing building No. 535 will be demolished. <br /> <br />Sternke said the Minnesota National Guard maintenance facility, at the south of <br />the arsenal, has greater activity and Is larger than the facility proposed for <br />the Army Reserve. <br /> <br />Miller explained that their normal construction Is concrete block buildings; <br />the three buildings proposed wi I I be similar to those at Fort Snel ling; noted <br />they do perform according to local government codes. <br /> <br />Mulcahy asked when the site plan will be available. Sternke said they <br />anticipate having a preliminary plan In about 60 days; anticipate plan proposal <br />wll I be ready late this year. Mulcahy asked If the site plan shows the <br />proposed site In relationship to the rest of the arsenal. Miller answered that <br />he did not think so. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Sternke explained that the Army Reserve has two companies on site now; propose <br />two additional companies. Sternke Invited Council to visit their area at Fort <br />Snel ling; telephone 727-5213. <br /> <br />Woodburn asked about their anticipated water supply source. Sternke reported <br />that the water supply Is contaminated now; Shorevlew Is opposed to supplying <br />water to the site; USAR Is currently looking to Arden HI I Is to provide water <br />and sewer; would like to know availability and costs as soon as possible <br />(September - October 1984); Miller described their needs at 3,000 gallons/day- <br />on a weekend and 1500 gallons/minute for 2 hours for fire protection. Architect <br />Miller advised that the project Is proposed for 1987 construction; advised they <br />wll I own the property they obtain from the arsenal; want to be Independent of <br />the arsenal for uti I Ites. <br /> <br />Chr I stof fersen noted that Arden H I I I s has a Ii ft stat i on and an 8" sewer wh I ch <br />serves the Karth Lake area; would have to look at access to this main for the <br />proposed project; noted that RCWO approval wi I I also be required. <br />
