. .
CITY OF ARDEN HILLS
, MEMORANDUM
DATE: January 12, 1996
TO: Mayor and City Council
FROM: Brian Fritsinger, City Administrato(f~
SUBJECT: Administrator Comments for January 16, 1996, Council Worksession
1. A~enda Items
a. Unisource Proposal
Unisource has contacted Staff regarding a potential development in the Gateway
Business District. Mr. Ringwald's memorandum provides background on the
proposal and the Company. The Company would like to meet with the Council to
discuss Arden Hills interest in allowing this development to occur.
The proposal does not meet the current zoning regulations outlined in the GBD
Zoning District. However, the Company has indicated that this location is
important to its operations and is willing to discuss building and site amenities
-- which would allow the building to "look" like something other than a warehouse.
rd like the Council to consider discussing only the business and building design
issues under this first Agenda item. Staff would like to discuss the general zoning
standards of the GBD and how these standards impact Unisource under Agenda
item "f'.
b. Newsletter
- Mr. Hoelscher has not completed a City newsletter (Town Crier) for several
-~ months. Over the past week, Councilmember Aplikowski has discussed this with
Mr. Hoelscher and may have some insight on his intentions.
-
- StatT is concerned about the lack of a Newsletter and the ability to effectively
communicate to the residents. I would like the Council to review its options and
- consider a new direction for the use of the Newsletter.
I c. Karth Lake Pumping Project
Several weeks ago the Council reminded Staff that additional follow~up was
I necessary in regards to the Karth Lake Pumping Project. The idea was to send a
letter to the residents describing the options available to the City and residents.
Staff has prepared a letter to provide to the residents but would like further
I clarification from the Council on its philosophy of project costs and history of this
.' problem.
.
