Present: Councilmembers Paul Malone, Dale Hicks, and <br /> I Susan Keirn; City Administrator, Brian Fritsinger; Community Development Director, Kevin <br /> Ringwald; Parks & Recreation Director, Cynthia Walsh; Public Works Superintendent, Dwayne <br /> I Stafford and Administrative Assistant, Shirley Evenson; Unisource Representatives, Chuck <br /> Belland, Jay Ross, Jeff Forrest, Ron French; and resident Lois Rem. <br /> I Mayor Dennis Probst was absent and Councilmember Susan Keirn arrived at 5:05 PM, <br /> Adopt Agenda <br /> I Motion: Acting Mayor Beverly Aplikowski moved and Councilmember Hicks seconded <br /> the adoption of the January 16, 1996, Worksession Agenda as submitted. Motion <br /> Ie carried unanimously (3-0). <br /> Agenda Item 3a <br /> I Unisource ProDosal <br /> Mr. Chuck Belland, Vice President, Minneapolis Operations ofUnisource, along <br /> with Jay Ross, Jeff Forrest and Ron French, also representatives of the Company, <br /> I discussed their desire to relocate into the Gateway Business District. <br /> I Unisource, a subsidiary of Alco Standard Corporation, is planning to purchase <br /> twenty-five (25,) acres ofland. It would initially construct up to a 250,000 square <br /> foot building, with future expansion plans near 300,000 square feet. This facility <br /> I would house finished paper products and employ between 175 to 200 people. <br /> Examples of various buildings Unisource has recently constructed were <br /> presented to the Council for its comments. <br /> I Mr. Belland indicated that Unisource is very enthusiastic and aware of the <br /> aesthetic requirements of the City. They feel the project will enhance and benefit <br /> I both the City and the Company, Mr. Belland did indicate that the Company had <br /> learned just recently that another party was also interested in acquiring the Pentair <br /> property. <br /> I The Council expressed support of the project and directed Staff to continue <br /> Ie discussions with Unisource while attempting to determine the status of the new <br /> player. Mr. Ringwald indicated he would follow,up on this issue. <br /> I <br />
