<br />-------- <br />- ___n_ _____________u______ <br /> I <br />ARDEN HILLS CITY COUNCIL - FEBRUARY 12.1996 7 .1 <br />Ms. Stoutenburg stated Pascal Avenue residents would like the same consideration given to them I <br />that was given to the Oak Avenue residents. <br />Mayor Probst inquired what the rule of the corner lot states regarding assessment costs. Mr. I <br />Fritsinger stated it is calculated as the shorter side of the lot, plus one third of the long side. I <br />Mr. Fritsinger stated that there were a number of issues involving drainage on Pascal Avenue, <br />and correcting them will not solve those issues completely, but should help. . <br />Mayor Probst stated that a reasonable effort must be made to improve drainage on Pascal <br />A venue, and that given the total number of miles of streets that need to be maintained in Arden I <br />Hills, the City needs to get the best possible results. <br />Ms. Stoutenburg agreed with the Mayor that the streets need to be maintained, but noted that I <br />there are only five houses on Pascal Avenue. <br />Mayor Probst stated that the Council approved decreasing the street width of Pascal Avenue from I <br />32 feet to 26 feet, and will address the recommendations during the assessment process. <br />Mayor Probst stated he understands the curb and gutter request, but is unsure if he can support .. <br />not having curb and gutter due to the drainage issues. <br />Greg Stonehouse, City Engineer, stated that they will proceed with field visits to discuss and I <br />explain the reconstmction plans to residents on site. <br />Mr. Fritsinger stated that the results of the soil borings should be completed within one week, . <br />and that the topography survey is scheduled for next week. Mayor Probst inquired if the test <br />results could be completed by February 28, 1996. Mr. Fritsinger responded affirmatively and . <br />stated the item could be placed on the March 11,1996 City Council agenda. <br />Councilmember Aplikowski stated that Mr. McDermott, a resident on Pascal A venue, requested . <br />that the City be as sensitive as possible to the area, and requested to meet with the engineers to <br />ask questions regarding location of curb and gutter. <br />Mayor Probst noted that ifreconstruction is not done, the quality will be compromised. He cited I <br />Cleveland Avenue as an example, stating the cracking is back within three years ofresurfacing. I <br />Ms. Stoutenburg noted that Cleveland A venue has heavier traffic than Pascal A venue and stated <br />she did not want to pay to correct other resident's water drainage problems.
