-------------------- ,..
March 5, 1996 1
..
TO: Arden Hills Ci ty Council I
FM: Residents of Oak A venue
CC: Brian Fritsinger 1
Greg Stonehouse 1
RE: Proposed 1996 Street Improvements
1
The residents of Oak A venue would like to begin by thanking the mayor, 1
city council members, city administrator, public works supervisor and city
engineer for their willingness to involve us in the decision process
regarding proposed street improvements to Oak Avenue. We have 1
appreciated your flexibility and patience as we have brought to you our
issues and concerns with the proposed improvements. ..
After the impasse at the February 26 city council meeting, we took the
initiative to arrange a meeting with the city engineer, public works I
supervisor and city administrator. About a third of the neighborhood was
represented at that meeting and together we discussed the various options
under consideration. The information obtained from that meeting was I
then shared with all residents of Oak A venue and a subsequent
neighborhood meeting held during which we exchanged information and I
opinions. A vote was taken at that meeting to determine our position.
With this letter we want to present to you our position regarding Oak 1
Avenue. As you know, our original petition presented unanimous
opposition to total reconstruction from the 27 residences on Oak A venue.
In the weeks since then we have attended several meetings and carefully 1
reviewed the information presented to us by the city engineer, as well as
additional information we obtained from several other sources.
As a result of that effort and the information obtained, as well as the council's I
and engineer's willingness to modify the design to accommodate our 1
concerns, many of the residents have moved toward the city council's
recommendation for total reconstruction of Oak A venue. However, this is
contingent upon meeting the criteria outlined in our recommendation. ..
1
