I ..
I. TRAIL DEVELOPMENT
The Committee added two segments to the trail plan. The first was North Snelling
I Avenue, (west side). The second one is, Fernwood and County Road F (west side).
When the Fernwood Avenue street is reconstructed, a trail should be constructed to
access the existing trail system around Cummings Park at County Road F.
I There is a small trail segment on County Road D North to Cleveland to be done this year.
I The County is doing some of the road work and MSA Funds will probably pay for most
of the trail segment. The Committee needs to discuss how to prioritize the future trail
segments, when the Committee receives more information about what roads are being
I reconstructed.
Cooperative Trails Grant
I With legislature approval, the City of Arden Hills will hopefully receive a Cooperative
Trails Grant funded by the MN DNR. The grant would potentially fund $45,000, which
is approximately 50 percent of the project cost.
I The first segment from Arden Vista Court South to Colleen is currently being bid out to
contractors. This segment plus the two alternatives could be funded in 1996, if the City
I receives the grant. The remaining segment could be done in 1997.
ISTEA Funding
I. Old Highway 10 from Bethel College to Highway 96 trail segment could be eligible for
ISTEA Funding.
I The trail on Old Highway 10, is within the street easement. The trail would probably go
on the west side. The County will be doing recycling of the street, maybe this year. The
I City is supposed to replace the watermain. The City would have the County's support if
the City applied for any funds.
I ISTEA pays for 80 percent and the City pays for 20 percent, except there is no
engineering fees covered in that 80 percent.
I It is very hard to prioritize any of the trail segments, because a lot of it is based on what
happens with the roads and tne funding.
I County Road E2 has an offroad trail, there would be adequate easements to have an off-
road trail at some time. New Brighton Road should be proposed.
I ARBOR DAY
~. The City is planning on an Eagle Scout to help with the project and possibly the Rotary.
Part of the landscaping at Perry Park would be done, and trees would be donated. Other
sources for helping out could be, Land O'Lakes Recycling Program and the High School
Civic's classes.
I
I
