The concern is that the loop detectors which control the semaphores at this intersection are typically buried only 1 Yz to 2Yz inches in the pavement and milling this area could damage or completely destroy the existing detectors. .. Mr. Stafford stated the Public Works Department recommends the Council approve Change I Order #1 appropriating $7,317.40 for the replacement of the loop detectors, if necessary, and that the City Engineer be directed to take all precautions possible to protect and save the existing loop detectors, thereby saving any repair or replacement costs.
