Walsh, Parks & Recreation Director ~ {iJ I ~r SUBJECT: Change Order for Northern Trail Segment I Backf:round I At the June 24, 1996 City Council meeting, the City Council inquired whether Thor Construction, Inc., would be willing to give the City a price quote for the Northern Trail segment. The intent was to possibly issue a Change Order if the price from the contractor was I reasonable. The contractor has indicated that they can complete the work in conjunction with the 1996 trail I construction for the same unit prices outlined in the current contract. Please see the attached memo from City Engineer, Greg Stonehouse for additional information. ~ Cost Estimates The initial cost estimate for this final segment of trail construction was $38,000. The updated cost estimate is $39,656 based on the same unit prices outlined in the current contract. The I updated estimate does include approximately $2,000 for the relocation of the North Townhome Association irrigation system that lies within the City's easement. The North Townhome Association has agreed to provide the City with additional easement in the area south of Arden I View Drive. Acquiring this easement will allow the trail to be constructed in the current location of the grass hiking trail. The majority of the City's easement consists of wetland and difficult I terrain. In return for the additional easement, the City will relocate the portion ofthe sprinkler system currently located within the City's easement.
