Otherwise, it could be delayed until after elections. <br /> I Councilmember Aplikowski asked if the question regarding charitable gambling is pertinent and <br /> suggested questions such as this not be included. <br /> I Councilmember Keirn concurred and noted it does not relate with the goals established by the <br /> Council. <br /> I Councilmember Hicks agreed that the question regarding the need for a City Hall not be included <br /> since the Council has made the determination that it is needed. <br /> I Mayor Probst suggested including questions regarding community space, facilities, programs, <br /> etc. and asked that the wording be closely considered to assure residents understand the type of <br /> I facility being proposed. <br /> Mr. Fritsinger advised the Council will receive a notice of the meeting sponsored by <br /> I Congressman Vento on August 21, 1996, 7 p.m. at the Family Services Center. Mayor Probst <br /> added that representatives from the Department of Defense and the Pentagon will be in <br /> attendance as well as the principles in the project. He stated he will attend the meeting and <br /> Ie invited other Councilmembers to attend. <br /> Mr. Fritsinger requested the Council's input on the quad arena proposed at the National Sports <br /> I Center in Blaine. Councilmember Aplikowski stated she has received several calls and one letter <br /> in support. Councilmember Hicks stated he has received one indication asking the Council to <br /> I support the project. Councilmember Keirn stated she received one comment in support of the <br /> proposal. Mayor Probst stated he has been contacted by one Shoreview resident plus a phone <br /> call but no contact from Arden Hills' residents. <br /> I COUNCIL COMMENTS <br /> I Councilmember Hicks advised the correct date of the Northwest Youth and Family Service <br /> Bureau fund raising event is September 12, 1996, and tickets are still available. <br /> I Councilmember Aplikowski asked if the Sobriety School in the Army Plaza complex has been <br /> denied. Mr. Fritsinger explained this appears unlikely to happen because the municipal code <br /> prohibits locating a liquor store within 500 feet of a school. He advised the school district has <br /> I been so notified. Councilmember Aplikowski informed the Council that the Northwest Youth <br /> and Family Service Bureau wants this contract, it appears this would be natural location, and a <br /> good match. <br /> I <br /> f' <br /> I <br />
