I ~ CITY OF ARDEN HILLS MEMORANDUM DATE: September 13, 1996 I TO: Mayor and City Council I FROM: Brian Fritsinger, City Administrato~ SUBJECT: Interviews for Architectural Service Respondents I RFP Uodate I The Request for Proposals (RFP) for architectural services for a new City Hall are enclosed for Council review, The City Council should discuss the interview process, location, time and date, I The agenda for the regular Council meeting on September 30, 1996 is shaping up to be quite lengthy, I would recommend a different date for interviews be selected, I Additional Facilitv Discussion Items The Council has discussed a variety of options over the past few months related to City Hall . facilities during the interim period of construction or site location. Staff will attempt to prepare information on these options prior to the selection of the architect. 1. Purchase Buildinl! on County Road F/Hamline Avenue I 2. Lease Space in Arden Hills I There are a number of facilities with space available in Arden Hills, Should the Council elect to wait for the TCAAP location, or while a new facility is built on the current location, it may wish to consider a short-term lease within the City, I 3. Construct Office Building on East End of Current Site The City may wish to consider constructing a commercial/office facility next to I the day care center. This facility could be used to house City operations until Sunfish Lake is available. The facility could then be sold for commercial uses, Another option would be to locate a developer who would construct and lease the I facility to Arden Hills, 4. Lease Space Outside the Citv of Arden Hills I The Council may wish to consider temporarily locating both the municipal offices and Council Chambers to a site outside of Arden Hills.
