<br /> I~ . <br /> I October 1996 <br /> ~ CITY OF ARDEN HILLS <br /> POSITION DESCRIPTION <br /> I Position Title: Building Inspector <br /> Department: Community Development <br /> Accountable to: Community Development Director <br /> I Positions Supervised: None <br /> Status: Full-Time Exempt <br /> I POSITION SUMMARY <br /> I Under general supcrvision and direction of the Community Development Director, this person <br /> administers, supervises and manages the issuance of all building permits for commercial, <br /> I industrial, and residential projects. Responsible for the administration and enforcement of all <br /> construction-related codes, including the Uniform Building Code, Uniform Housing Code, and <br /> mechanical, plumbing and fire codes. The position oversees and conducts all plan reviews, <br /> I inspections, and code compliance activities related to building development. <br /> ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB <br /> Ie I. Directs, plans and administers various building codes, <br /> I A. Responsible for the interpretation and enforcement of the Uniform Building and <br /> Housing Code, fire, mechanical and plumbing codes, sign and zoning ordinances <br /> and policies, <br /> I 2. Conducts inspections of new or remodeled buildings for compliance with applicable <br /> I codes and ordinances governing construction, plumbing, mechanical, housing and zoning. <br /> A. Consistently and fairly interprets codes in a professional manner. <br /> I B. Conducts inspections in a businesslike and impartial manner that commands the <br /> respect of contractors and property owners. <br /> I C.
