People who want to take an active part to 'make a difference' in improving <br /> public safety in Ramsey County are invited to apply and become volunteer officers. <br /> I THE ROLE: <br /> I Participate in actions that will be diverse, be in non-law enforcement roles, i.e. not involved in dangerous <br /> situations, and be involved in the Sheriff's Department and the community. CAOs will: <br /> 0 be involved in crime prllvllntion projects, shon and long term, <br /> I. <br /> 0 organize I participate in local citizen groups to reduce violencll in thllir communities with emphases <br /> I on crime prevention, and be a communication link for the Sheriff's Department, <br /> . assist, as needed, Ramsey County Deputies where there is a need to resolve a problem, <br /> I . work with youthful offenders and at-risk kids. <br /> , and do neighborhood watch duties to improve public safety. <br /> I <br /> I The majority ofCAO time and effon will be in communicating and servicing local communities. They will <br /> help citizens identifY and find ways to resolve local crime problems through cooperation among the <br /> Sheriffs Department, residents, local business interests and local govenunent. <br /> I TRAINING: <br /> I CAO Academy will start February 4, 1997. having 15 meetings for three hours per evening held on <br /> Tuesdays and Thursdays. <br /> I The training will be at various locations in the county, depending upon the subject being discussed. <br /> I. <br /> I <br /> 2'd ~jdtE:21 96, 12 AOf.l <br /> ---..------ <br />
