<br /> I <br /> .1 <br /> EXAMPLES OF INSTR{JCTION: I <br /> There will be skills training in crime prevention methods, developing Neighborhood Watch groups, public I <br /> safety, graffiti removal and prevention, observation, radio use and dispatch procedures, Ramsey County <br /> crime demographics, youthful offenders, mentoring, policies and procedures, reports, recognizing sexual <br /> harassment, defensive tactics, chemical agents, llIId more.' Since much ofCAO work will be in building I <br /> relationships, there will be communications, and event management training. <br /> YOUR COMMITMENT: I <br /> You commit to attend the CAO Academy and then continue to work in the Sheriff's Department on an on- <br /> going basis in community projects identified by the Department or through your own interaction in the I <br /> community, and where authorized by the Sheriff. <br /> There is no cost to you other than a 550 refundable deposit (payable at the conclusion of training) for I <br /> provided equipment and uniform pieces. There will be liability coverage while on duty. <br /> QUALIFICATIONS: I <br /> Candidates should .have the interest and time to do this community oriented work and I or neighborhood <br /> watch duties. CAOs will work independently and interdependently (teamwork) to meet particular project .. <br /> assignment needs. <br /> Volunteers must be a minimum of eighteen years old, have no felony convictions and have a valid driver's I <br /> license. <br /> Senior citizens are welcome. I <br /> Applicants should have good communications skills and a desire to work with people.
