MEMORANDUM <br /> DATE: December 9, 1996 <br /> - <br /> - TO: Mayor and City Council <br /> - FROM: K~m R;.gw.ld, C.mm..;., D~""pm,.1 D;red" ~ <br /> - <br /> SUBJECT: Marketing Brochure <br /> - <br /> - Request <br /> - The Economic Development Committee (EDC) recommends that the City Council authorize the <br /> expenditure of budgeted funds for the publication of the Arden Hills marketing brochure (Exhibit <br /> - A). <br /> - <br /> Background <br /> - The EDC has the publication of a marketing brochure as its second highest priority for 1996. <br /> The EDC at its November 20, 1996 completed its preparation of the marketing brochure and .- <br /> - made a recommendation to request the City Council for authorization to expend the budgeted <br /> funds for the publication of the marketing brochure. <br /> - <br /> -. The cover ofthe brochure will be a folder with color photographs printed on the exterior and a <br /> location map and a business card slot on the interior sleeves. The photographs on the cover are <br /> of Land 0' Lakes and the Cardiac Pacemaker Incorporated buildings (Exhibit A, page 1 of 14). <br /> - The photographs on the rear of the cover (Exhibit A, page 2 of 14) are ofrecreation (Tony <br /> - Schmidt Park), worship (Ukrainian Orthodox Church), and quality living (1421 Skiles Lane). <br /> The location map on the left interior sleeve (Exhibit A, page 3 of 14) shows the principal <br /> - highway connections to Arden Hills and approximate travel times to the airport, University of <br /> - Minnesota, and the downtowns of Minneapolis and Saint Paul. The right interior sleeve (Exhibit <br /> A, page 4 of 14) is slotted for a business card. <br /> - <br /> The inside of the right sleeve of the interior of the brochure will contain a welcoming letter from <br /> the EDC, a letter Norwest Banks stating the benefIts of operating in Arden Hills, and then an <br /> updated Community Profrle (Exhibit A, page 5 of 14 through 14 of 14). The Community Profrle <br /> contains the essential elements about population, demographics, existing businesses, and <br /> - business opportunities within Arden Hills, <br /> - The inside of the left sleeve ofthe interior of the brochure is designed to contain tailored <br /> information for each prospect. As example, if the XYZ Corporation is looking for vacant land, <br /> - then the left sleeve will contain specific information on vacant sites within Arden Hills. <br /> -. <br /> - <br /> -- ------ ---------- <br />
