<br /> . ARTICLE 6. CITATIONS AND IMPOUNDMENT <br /> SECTION 5-65. AUTHORITY TO IMPOUND. ISSUE CITATIONS. Any <br /> domestic animal found in violation of the provisions of this <br /> article may be seized and impounded by any police officer or any <br /> animal control officer of the City; provided, however, that if the <br /> owner of such animal is known or can be ascertained from available <br /> information, it shall be returned to its owner and a citation for <br /> such violation shall be issued to the owner or keeper of such <br /> animal [unless otherwise provided in this article] . (Ord. No. 198, <br /> 9, 6-27-77) <br /> SECTION 5-66. PLACE OF IMPOUNDMENT. Impoundment may be in <br /> such animal shelter, within or without the City, as the Council <br /> from time to time may designate by resolution as the "City pound." <br /> (Ord. No. 198, 9, 6-27-77) <br /> SECTION 5-67. NOTICE TO OWNER. The owner of any domestic <br /> animal impounded under the provisions of this divisiont if <br /> his/her/her identity and location can be obtained by reasonable <br /> means I shall be notified within twenty-four (24) hours that <br /> . his/her/her domestic animal has been impounded. (Ord. No. 198, 9, <br /> 6-27-77) <br /> SECTION 5-68. REDEMPTION BY OWNER: FEE. Any domestic animal <br /> impounded pursuant to the provisions of this division may be <br /> redeemed from the pound by the owner thereof within five (5) days <br /> after such impoundment upon payment to the City Administrator of an <br /> impoundment fee as has been from time to time established by the <br /> Council by resolution, plus the license fee required pursuant to <br /> section 5-59 hereof in the event the dog is not licensed. (Ord. No. <br /> 198, 9, 6-27-77) <br /> SECTION 5-69. RELEASE. Upon the presentation of proof of a <br /> valid license for such domestic animal and payment of the fees <br /> provided in the previous section hereof, the poundkeeper shall <br /> release the domestic animal to its owner. The poundkeeper shall <br /> further take such steps as are necessary to cause the owner of the <br /> domestic animal to be charged with any violation of this article <br /> which gave rise to the impoundment of the domestic animal.
