STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> COUNTY OF RAMSEY <br /> CITY OF ARDEN HILLS <br /> Ordinance No 295 <br /> An ordinance amending Chapter 5 of the <br /> City of Arden Hills Municipal Code Relating to <br /> Animals and Pets. <br /> The Council of the City of Arden Hills does ordain as follows: <br /> Chapter 5 of the City Municipal Code is hereby amended as follows. <br /> ARTICLE I. IN GENERAL <br /> SECTION 5-l. QUARANTINE OF ANIMAL WHICH HAS BITTEN A PERSON: <br /> DESTRUCTION OF RABID ANIMALS. <br /> a. ) Any dog or other animal that has bitten a person and <br /> caused an abrasion or puncture of the skin shall <br /> immediately be quarantined for a minimum of ten(lO) days. <br /> Such an animal shall be confined at a veterinary hospital <br /> . or at the owner's home in such a manner that it does not <br /> escape or come in contact with other people or animals. <br /> When the dog or animal is quarantined as stated above, it <br /> shall be at the owner's expense. A quarantine report <br /> must be completed by the local animal control agency. <br /> Stray animals that have bitten a person shall be <br /> quarantined through the local animal control agency. <br /> Dogs that are involved in two (2 ) or more bites are <br /> subject to Section: 5-37. <br /> b. ) No law enforcement officer or other person shall kill, or <br /> cause to be killed, any animal suspected of being rabid, <br /> except after the animal has been placed in quarantine and <br /> the diagnosis of rabies made. (Ord. No. 295, 3-28-94) <br /> ARTICLE II. DOGS <br /> SECTION 5-31. DEFINITIONS The following definitions shall <br /> be used in the application and interpretation of the provisions <br /> of this article: <br /> . (a) Dog shall mean any species of the Canis genus of animals. <br /> (b) Kennel shall mean any establishment where dogs are kept <br />
