<br />, <br /> <br />MINUTES OF THE ARDEN HILLS COUNCIL WORKSESSION <br />MONDAY, JUNE 19, 1989, 4:30 P.M. - CITY HALL <br /> <br />CALL TO ORDER <br /> <br />Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, Mayor Sather <br />called the meeting to order at 4:30 p.m. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />ROLL CALL The roll being called, the following members were <br />present: Mayor Thomas Sather, Councilmembers Paul Malone <br />and Thomas Mahowald. Absent: Councilmember JoAnn Growe. Councilmember Hansen <br />arrived at 4:40 p.m. Also present: Clerk Administrator Gary Berger and Deputy <br />Clerk Catherine Iago. <br /> <br />ADOPT AGENDA <br /> <br />Mayor Sather recommended Item #4 be interchanged with <br />Item #3 on the agenda to save time. <br /> <br />Malone moved, seconded by Mahowald, to adopt the agenda <br />as revised to reflect Item #3 Council Comments and Item #4 City Engineer <br />Selection Process/Interviews. Motion carried unanimously. (3-0) <br /> <br />COUNCIL COMMENTS <br /> <br />NEWS ARTICLE Councilmember Mahowald stated he had been contacted by a <br />reporter from the St. Paul Dispatch relative to the City <br />of Arden Hills; he questioned if the other members of the Council were contacted. <br /> <br />Mayor Sather and Councilmember Malone stated they had been contacted by Ann <br />Baker; Sather commented that his past experience with Baker has been positive and <br />she does an excellent job. <br /> <br />PARKING PROBLEM; <br />RED FOX ROAD <br /> <br />Councilmember Malone advised he had received a complaint <br />relative to employees of the Blue Fox restaurant parking <br />along Red Fox Road; suggested the Ramsey County Sheriffs <br />contacted to enforce parking regulations. He noted there should be <br />the area between the Blue Fox driveway and Lexington Avenue due to <br />to the intersection and the location of the fire hydrant. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />department be <br />no parking in <br />the closeness <br /> <br />Clerk Administrator Berger stated he would contact the Sheriffs department <br />relative to this matter and report to Council. <br /> <br />RADIO OPERATORS; <br />PERRY PARK <br /> <br />staff forward the <br /> <br />Councilmember Malone corrected the information submitted <br />to city staff; the Ham Radio Operators would be staying <br />overnight in the Park on June 24, 1989. He asked that <br />information to the Sheriffs department. <br /> <br />FINANCE COMMITTEE Mayor Sather explained that he and Councilmember Malone <br />were present at the April Finance Committee meeting to <br />discuss the responsibilities of the committee; at the May meeting the Finance <br />Committee was somewhat disgruntled that they were not as involved in the budget <br />process as they had been in the past. Sather stated the committee requested a <br />more detailed explanation as to their charge from the Council. <br /> <br />Councilmember Malone prepared a letter which outlines a ideas for charges to the <br />committee, reviews past expectations and highlights categories for future Finance <br />Committee involvement. <br /> <br />Mayor Sather suggested Council review the information and be prepared to discuss <br />this matter at the July worksession. After Council has reached a consensus <br />relative to the charge of the committee, Mayor Sather and Council Liaison Malone <br />. will review the proposal with Chair Trudy Ratio. <br />
