Malone moved~ seconded by Growe, that Council approve the <br /> appointment of Patricia Yezek to the full-time position of Receptionist/Clerk <br /> Typist at a starting salary of $7.15 per hour. effective November 1, 1989. Motion <br /> carried unanimously. (4-0) <br /> COUNCIL COMMENTS: <br /> MISCELLANEOUS Councilmember Hansen advised she will arrive late at the <br /> Regular Council Meeting held November 13 and she is <br /> unable to attend the luncheon at Bethel College. <br /> Councilmember Malone stated he is unable to attend the luncheon at Bethel <br /> College. Mayor Sather and Councilmember Growe advised they would attend. <br /> DISCUSSION; Councilmember Hansen expressed concern relative to the <br /> COMMITTEES general tone of the Public Safety/Works Committee; the <br /> members appear discouraged by lack of direction from <br /> CounciL She suggested Council consider utilization of citizen committees and <br /> giving definite direction to this committee in particular. <br /> Hansen noted tours of the Fire Station and Police facilities are to be scheduled <br /> in the future and review of an assessment policy; stated the committees should be <br /> utilized with specific charges. <br /> Councilmember Hansen also noted new members are needed on several committees and <br /> . suggested placing an announcement in the Town Crier for volunteers. <br /> Councilmember Malone stated he was contacted by the Chair of the PS/W Committee <br /> and he expressed concern relative to the assessment policy. Malone advised the <br /> Chair that input from the PS/W Committee is welcomed by the Finance Committee on <br /> the assessment policy. He encouraged the Chair of the PW/S Committee to present <br /> to Council their comments and recommendations on the assessment policy or other <br /> areas of interest to the Committee. <br /> Clerk Administrator Berger advised Engineer Maurer is currently compiling a draft <br /> assessment policy which should be available this week. <br /> Councilmember Malone outlined Finance Committee projects which are currently <br /> underway or will be reviewed in the future. <br /> Mayor Sather 'that past Councilmembers had sent projects to the citizen committees <br /> as a means of T1dumping" said projects. He favored the approach of Council <br /> handling matters related to Council and encouraging the citizen committees to <br /> tackle projects of interest to the committee which would provide better services <br /> for residents of our community. Sather preferred the PS/W Committee outline <br /> several projects of interest to them and submit the list for Council review and <br /> prioritizing. <br /> ADJOURN Growe moved, seconded by Malone, that the meeting be <br /> adjourned at 8:05 p.m. Motion carried unanimously.
