<br /> Minutes of the Arden Hills Regular Council Meeting, 10-30-89 <br /> ~ Page 3 <br /> ESCROW AGREEMENT; Council was referred to a memorandum from the Clerk <br /> KEM MILLING SITE Administrator dated 10-27-89, relative to an escrow <br /> agreement between the City and Darling & Company. <br /> . Acting City Attorney John Miller referred to the October 27 letter from Attorney <br /> Jerry Filla relative to a request from Darling & Company for the City to sign an <br /> escrow agreement to permit the earnest money to be transferred to an interest <br /> bearing account in the event the transaction does not close on 10-31-89. Miller <br /> stated he has been in contact with Metro Title and was informed two mortgages <br /> need to be released from the subject property; at this time he has no reason to <br /> believe the transaction will not go through. <br /> Malone moved, seconded by Hansen, that Council approve <br /> the escrow agreement between the City of Arden Hills and Darling & Company and <br /> authorize the execution of said document. Motion carried unanimously. (4-0) <br /> APPOINTMENT; Council was referred to a memorandum from Public Works <br /> PUBLIC WKS Supervisor Dan Winkel dated 10-27-89, recommending the <br /> MAINTENANCE appointment of Stephen Saxe to fill the Maintenance <br /> WORKER Worker vacancy. <br /> Winkel advised he was recommending Saxe start at the 80% salary step, $10.54 per <br /> hour, based on his extensive background and expertise in all areas of the job <br /> duties. He stated the higher starting pay was utilized when hiring Jim Perron. <br /> who also had experience in the public works job duties. <br /> Hansen moved, seconded by Growe, that Council approve the <br /> appointment of Mr. Stephen (Pete) Saxe, to the full-time position of Public Works <br /> . Maintenance Worker, at a starting salary of $10.54 per hour, effective November <br /> 1, 1989. Motion carried unanimously. (4-0) <br /> COMPLETION PROB. Council was referred to a memorandum from the Clerk <br /> PERIOD; BLDG. Administrator dated 10-17-89, relative to Building <br /> INSPECTOR Inspector Kriesel's completion of his probationary period <br /> and evaluation. <br /> Berger stated David Kriesel received an excellent performance evaluation and <br /> recommended a salary increased to the next step in the salary schedule for this <br /> position. He explained Kriesel is currently at the 90% step of $22.50 per hour <br /> and the 95% step is $23.75 per hour. Berger further recommended the increase be <br /> retroactive to 8-21-89. <br /> Malone moved, seconded by Growe, that Council authorize a <br /> salary increase for Building Inspector Kriesel to the rate of $23.75 per hour, <br /> retroactive to August 21, 1989, based on successful completion of his <br /> probationary period and a positive performance evaluation. Motion carried <br /> unanimously. (4-0) <br /> APPOINTMENT; Council was referred to memorandums from Deputy Clerk <br /> RECEPTIONIST/ Iago dated 10-25-89 and Clerk Administrator Berger dated <br /> CLERK TYPIST 10-16-89, relative to appointment of Patricia Yezek to <br /> the position of Receptionist/Clerk Typist. <br /> . Berger advised Deputy Clerk Iago and Administrative Secretary DeLaRosa had <br /> conducted interviews and testing on candidates for this position. After <br /> successful completion of reference checks on candidate Yezek, both recommended <br /> her for appointment to the position; the Clerk Administrator concurred with the <br /> recommendation. <br /> Councilmember Growe questioned the amount and percentage of the starting salary <br /> for this position. <br />
