City of Arden Hills Personnel Policy _11! Effective February 29, 2016 <br />.A R�)EN H I I I Amended July 28, 2025 and <br />Departments with unique job or coverage requirements may have additional rules, issued <br />by the supervisor and subject to approval of the City Administrator, on the use of meal <br />breaks and rest periods. <br />Employees will not work through a lunch break without prior approval from the City <br />Administrator or supervisor. <br />Up to a one (1) hour unpaid lunch period may be provided in each eight (8) hour workday <br />with the approval of the employee's supervisor if breaks are combined with the thirty (30) <br />minute lunch. Exempt employees shall receive lunch periods at times determined by the <br />needs of their work. <br />Any employee who performs a regular eight (8) hour shift between the hours of <br />9:00 p.m. and 9:00 a.m., or any employee who works more than five (5) consecutive hours <br />of overtime, shall be given a thirty (30) minute lunch break with pay. <br />Summer Hours <br />The City Council may annually approve summer hours of operation, which will typically <br />begin on the Tuesday after Memorial Day each year and end on the Friday before Labor <br />Day of each year. <br />HOLIDAYS <br />All full-time employees are eligible for the following holidays: <br />New Year's Day <br />Martin Luther King, Jr. Day <br />President's Day <br />Memorial Day <br />Juneteenth <br />Independence Day <br />Labor Day <br />Veterans Day <br />Thanksgiving <br />Day after Thanksgiving <br />Christmas Eve Afternoon <br />(last 4 hours of working day) <br />Christmas Day <br />New Year's Eve Afternoon <br />(last 4 hours of working day) <br />1 Floating Holiday <br />January 1st <br />Third Monday in January <br />Third Monday in February <br />Last Monday in May <br />June 19th <br />July 4th <br />First Monday in September <br />November 11th <br />Fourth Thursday in November <br />Fourth Friday in November <br />December 24' <br />(this turns into a floater in years that Christmas <br />Eve lands on a Saturday or a Sunday) <br />December 25t' <br />December 31st <br />(this turns into a floater in years that New Year's <br />Eve lands on a Saturday or a Sunday) <br />Determined by employee and supervisor approval <br />40 <br />
