Motion carried unanimously. (4-0) <br /> <br />PUBLIC <XlMMENTS <br />ARDEN TRAIL <br />JJ.IPROV>>!ENI' <br /> <br />Council was referred to a memorandum from Park Direct.or <br />Buckley dated 5-24-90, relative to the notice sent to <br />property owners regarding the Arden Trail Improvements <br />and a memorandum from residents alorq the trail dated 5-23-90, requesting this <br />matter be placed on the agenda. <br /> <br />Mayor Sather requested persons wishing to speak in favor of or opposed to the <br />proposed inq:>rovement to speak at the microphone, identify themselves by name and <br />address and briefly state their concerns. <br /> <br />Gary Niemczyk, 1918 Noble Road, stated the trail inq:>rovement has been discussed <br />f= several years and he remains opposed to the improvement. He expressed COncel:TI <br />that the existing trail is =ently in good condition and will become full of <br />. debris, similar to the north part of the trail system, if inq:>roved. <br /> <br />Charlie Olenoweth, 1898 Noble Road, did not fav= the inq:>rovement and expressed <br />concern that the motorized vehicles =ently using the trails will increase with <br />the inq:>rovement. He also expressed concern at the lack of privacy that will be <br />experienced by reSidents; =ently persons using the trail walk through his <br />yard. <br /> <br />Bob Johnson, 1902 Noble Road, stated there is =ently a drainage problem alorq <br />the north and south sides of Noble Road. He expressed concern that the problem <br />will occur alorq the pathway; displayed pictures of the problem. <br /> <br />Dave Haney, 1889 Grant Road, stated his principal COncel:TI is loss of privacy due <br />to increased pedestrian traffic. <br /> <br />virginia Haney, 1889 Grant Road, expressed concern relative to the change in the <br />type of people that will utilize the trail if bituminous surface is installed; <br />=ently the trail is used by bikers, walkers and jo::rgers. Haney stated once the <br />bituminous surface is installed the trail will be used for skateboards, roller <br />blades and motorized vehicles. <br /> <br />Shannon Johnson, 1902 Noble Road, commented that the bituminous surface <br />contradicts the "flower power" im3.ge =ently being promoted by the City. She <br />stated the trail is very appealing in its natural state. <br /> <br />. <br />
