<br /> ARDEN HILLS PLANNING COMMISSION - JULY 17,2002 6 <br /> e Commissioner Smithknecht asked how much of the sign would be visible from Highway <br /> 96. Mr. Logelin replied it would be minimally visible until they turned into the driveway. <br /> He stated this sign was not to advertise the Church. <br /> Chair Sand closed the public hearing at 8:57 p.m. <br /> Chair Sand asked how many CUlTent auxiliary signs did they have on the propelty. Mr. <br /> Pan-ish replied there was no limitation on the number of auxiliary signs on a property and <br /> he did not know how many auxiliary signs where on this property. He stated this <br /> auxiliary sign would not have a logo on it. He indicated the Commission could either <br /> look at this sign as an auxiliary sign or a monument sign. <br /> Commissioner Lemberg stated they needed to look at the definition of sign illumination. <br /> Mr. Parrish stated the Ordinance prohibited flashing signs, but if the sign was not flashing <br /> then it would not be prohibited. <br /> Commissioner Zimmernlan stated he would not want the sign visible from Highway 96_ <br /> Commissioner Ricke asked if it would be positioned so it would only be visible once they <br /> entered the property. Mr. Logelin replied the sign would parallel Highway 96 and would <br /> not be a distraction to Highway 96. He indicated seeing the sign from Highway 96 would <br /> e serve no purpose. He stated they had lowered the sign eight inches from their original <br /> design so it would not be obtrusive, yet readable. He replied the sign would be on a slight <br /> berm. <br /> Commissioner Zimmerman expressed concern that this sign would be secn from <br /> Highway 96. <br /> Commissioner Ricke also expressed concern that the sign would be seen from Highway <br /> 96. Mr. Logelin stated the church would not be advertised on the sign and the main <br /> purpose 0 f the sign was internal traffic management. <br /> Conmlissioner Smithknecht asked if the sign could be placed off to the side. Mr. Logelin <br /> replied people would not look for a sign off to the side. <br /> Chair Sand stated he was not concemed about seeing the sign from Highway 96. He did <br /> not want to see the sign flashing though. <br /> Commissioner Ricke asked the hours the sign would be used. Mr. Logelin replied it <br /> would bc used from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p_m. <br /> Commissioner Lemberg stated this sign made sense because of the traffic hackups that <br /> OCCUlTed on Highway 96. He believed this sign would aid to good traffic management. <br /> e Chair Sand agreed with Commissioner Lemberg. <br />
