The application also includes a request to construct a sidewalk and an additional traffic lane for <br /> special events. <br /> Backl!:round <br /> 1. Overview of Request: <br /> Currently, there are two guard shacks for security personal at the western entrance to Bethel <br /> University off of old US Highway 10. One of the existing 8'x 4' guard shacks is <br /> approximately 450 feet from the entrance and is on a median that is roughly 30 fcet long. <br /> The other shack is approximately 8'xlO' and is on the north side of the road. The University <br /> is proposing to replace the guard shacks with a single, larger Welcome Center. The new <br /> Welcome Center will be approximately 12 feet wide and 20 feet long. The new primary <br /> median with the Welcome Center will be approximately 75 feet long and include one parking <br /> space for a security vehicle.
