<br /> e CITY OF ARDEN HILLS <br /> MEMORANDUM <br /> DATE: February 20, 1997 <br /> TO: Brian Fritsinger, City Administrator <br /> FROM: Dwayne Stafford, Public Works Superintendent V:; , <br /> SUBJECT: Monthly Department Head Report <br /> The Public Works / Public Safety Committee met on January 16th. The Oath of Office was <br /> given to attending members by Councilmember Malone. There were two items under Old <br /> Business, they were: <br /> I. Recommendation on Assessment Policy Relating to Residents Whose Properties <br /> Abut County Roads. <br /> Arden Hills Finance Director, Terry Post was present to explain how the Assessment <br /> Policy relates to these residents. The discussion evolved to other topics relating to the <br /> Assessment Policy and Councilmember Malone recommended that the Public Works <br /> - Superintendent provide copies of the Assessment Policy to the Committee members <br /> before continuing the discussion. <br /> 2. Si~n request for ("Slow Children at Play") signs in the Glenpaul/Prior area. <br /> The committee did not recommend these signs be installed after reviewing the situation. <br /> Mrs, Linders, who had petitioned for the signs, was sent a letter eXplaining the reasoning <br /> for the committee's decision. <br /> - <br /> New Business <br /> - The garbage issue was discussed again with new information concerning truck weights and <br /> - bidding information provided to the Public Works Superintendent by Jeff Gallagher, a former <br /> I collection business owner. No new decisions were made pertaining to garbage collection. <br /> Also, information about a SCADA system (Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition) for <br /> I monitoring the City Lift Stations and Water Supply System was provided to the committee. The <br /> committee recommended the Public Works Staff continue exploring this area for updating the <br /> city's monitoring system. <br /> I Public Works Department <br /> The new Plow Truck equipment installation is nearly completed and it should be here by March <br /> I 1, 1997, The old street sweeper was delivered to MacQueen Equipment on February 3, 1997 to <br /> fulfill the city's obligation of early delivery thereby realizing an additional $1,000.00 trade-in <br /> ,. value, <br /> I <br />
