<br /> .. <br /> CITY OF ARDEN HILLS <br /> - MEMORANDUM <br /> DATE: February 24, 1997 <br /> TO: Mayor and City Council <br /> FROM: Kevin Ringwald, Community Development Director <br /> SUBJECT: Community Development Department Activities <br /> February of 1997 <br /> The following summarizes the activities of the Community Development Department for <br /> February of1997. <br /> Plan nine- and Zoninlr <br /> The City Council already has taken action on the recommendations of the Planning Commission <br /> from their February 5,1997 meeting. Therefore, no update of this information will be provided. <br /> The Staff has received the following application for the Planning Commission consideration at <br /> the March 5, 1997 meeting: <br /> - I. Planning Case 97-04 (Enterprise Leasing Company, 3761 Lexington Avenue, Special <br /> Use Permit). The applicant (Enterprise Rental Car) wishes to occupy a bay of the <br /> Goodyear building. The applicant does leasing business with the surrounding large <br /> corporations and wishes to have an outlet in close proximity to them. The applicant <br /> anticipates that there will be at most eight (8) cars on the site at any given time. <br /> - Protective Inspections <br /> - <br /> 1. Building Inspector. The new building inspector (Dave Scherbel) has been on board with <br /> - the City for approximately four weeks now and is doing an excellent job. Mr. Scherbel is <br /> I in the process of producing a series of handouts which will assist homeowners obtain the <br /> necessary permits and approvals on projects they commonly tackle (ie., decks, fences, <br /> etc.,). Mr. Scherbel has also been reviewing the internal operations of the protective <br /> I inspections division so as to provide increased operational efficiencies for the public and <br /> the City. Lastly, Mr. Scherbel has been successful in working on these tasks, taking <br /> questions from the public, and conducting plan review and inspections within the <br /> I parameters of a 40 hour work week. <br /> 2. Protective Inspections - 1996 time and cost allocation. The consultant services <br /> I provided for protective inspections cost the City in 1996 $134.423.30 (Exhibit A). The <br /> ~ 1996 cost was $41,095.69 higher than 1995 and $59,651.41 higher than 1994. <br /> I <br />
