I' ~ Memorandum - Committee Roles Page Three March 4, 1997 Newsletter Committee (7 members current) I The purpose of this Committee is to report, write and edit the monthly newsletter publication. The Committee meets regularly on the last Wednesday of each month at 6:00 P.M. I Planning Commission (7 members by Code) The purpose of this Commission is to advise the Council on all City land use planning I matters. Duties include the development and maintenance of the Arden Hills Comprehensive Plan, carrying out procedures dictated by Minnesota Statutes, Section 462.351 - 462.365 and City Code, review and investigation of various planning matters as I directed by the City Council, and making recommendations to the City Council. The Planning Commission meets at 7:30 P.M. the first Wednesday of each month. I Parks & Recreation Commission (8 members current) Dedicated to serving the people of Arden Hills by providing a comprehensive, weIl- I maintained system of parks, trails, facilities and open spaces, and a balanced, well- organized program of affordable recreational activities. The Commission meets at the Army Reserve Center on the fourth Tuesday or Wednesday of each month at 7:00 p.m. Ie .Public Safety Commission (7 members current) The purpose of this Commission is to advise the Council on matters that relate to the I goals, policies and operations on public safety functions. Duties shall include assisting the Police and Fire Departments in such activities as assessing community concerns relating to public safety issues, developing long range strategic plans, developing and I monitoring achievement of performance measures. The Committee meets bi-monthly on the third Thursday of the month at 7:30 P.M. I Youth Commission No defined objectives and no current members. I Human Rights Committee Disbanded 2/97 I Sushila Shah - City liaison for Human Rights activities - quarterly reports to Council. I I ,. I
