----------
- CITY OF ARDEN HILLS
. MEMORANDUM
- DATE: March 25, 1997
I TO: Brian Fritsinger, City Administrator
. FROM: Dwayne Stafford, Public Works Superintendent is.
SUBJECT: Monthly Department Head Report
-
- Public Work~lPublic Safety Committee
The City of Arden Hills Public WorkslPublic Safety Committee met on March 20, 1997.
I Recommendations were made by the committee on two (2) items on the agenda.
. The committee is recommending the City assess property owners on County roads, as
I provided for in the assessment policy.
. . The committee recommends the City does not mow weeds along Hamline Avenue, as
requested by Mr. Tom Lynch.
.. Public Works Deoartment
The new plow truck arrived on March 12, 1997, and looks and performs great. The new sweeper
is scheduled to be delivered next week. Upon arrival the Public Works Department will began
. sweepmg. Streets around lakes will be swept first, followed by streets which drain into lakes.
Cleaning and televising of approximately 20,000 feet of sewer lines was completed this past
I month and the Public Works Department is waiting for the videos. Early reports indicate some
major problems may exist. Public Works Staff worked with the TV crew from Infratech Inc.,
providing access to the sewer lines. Most of the easements had been allowed to grow over, and a
I great deal of clearing was needed. Public Works Crew members spent several weeks clearing
and cutting roots in sewer lines, since the TV work was finished. As time and weather permit,
I Public Works will continue clearing sewer easements making all lines accessible.
The Booster Station and the Water Tower on Red Fox Road have a security system in operation
. similar to City Hall and Public Works garage. The Fernwood Tower System is not operable, as
of yet.
I The Public Works Superintendent is compiling information on water meters and hopes to start
writing specifications for the commercial/industrial meters soon.
I Public Works Staff members have attended various schools and seminars this past month;
including hazardous waste, confined space, sweeper maintenance, crack sealing, and sewer
I. maintenance.
.
---- - ~
