The City has briefly discussed the pending expiration of the fire protection agreement with <br />. Lake Johanna Volunteer Fire Department, Inc. in December, 1998. While the timing of this <br /> discussion may appear to be premature, the affect on the City's budget and CIP program <br /> warrant an early start to planning for our future fire needs. <br />. Specifically, the City Council may wish to begin discussions as to the process to be followed, <br /> and issues related to the services provided. Some of the issues you may wish to consider are: <br />. . Establishment of Task Force or Council/Staff Subcommittee <br /> . Determine issues held by Shoreview and North Oaks <br />Ie . Consider Request for Proposals <br /> . Bricks and Mortar of our own department <br /> . TCAAP/Sub-contracting <br />. . Fire Marshal/Plan Review Needs <br /> . Location/Relocation of Arden Hills Fire Hall <br /> . Future Use of Station #1 <br />. . Vehicle and Equipment Ownership <br />. Requested Action <br /> Staff desires to begin conversations with the City Council on fire protection services, and to <br /> discuss the approach desired to plan for the expiration of the current contract with Lake <br />.
