<br /> I' .'.-" <br /> ~- Administrator Comments for the 5/27/97 Council Meeting <br /> Page Five <br /> May 23, 1997 <br /> 1 <br /> The County has informed the City that it intends to rebuild the Cleveland Avenue <br /> I bridge with a bridge design rather than an at-grade crossing. <br /> i. Gateway Business District (GBD) <br /> 1 Staff continues to work with Welsh Development on the GBD project. With the <br /> completion of the feasibility report, the City can now plan on the stages of <br /> development. Staff worked on the preparation of budgetary and boundary <br /> 1 changes to the Arden Hills District to more accurately plan for the GBD project, <br /> and other future project development. We have also begun the preparation of a <br /> Developer's Agreement with Welsh to outline the specifics of the development <br /> 1 program. <br /> 1 j. Marketing Brochure <br /> Staff has discussed with Ms, Suzanne Faust, the feedback provided by Council on <br /> the development of the marketing brochure. A "mock up" will be prepared and <br /> 1 available for review in June. <br /> k. Fire Service Contract <br /> -- The Fire Service Task Force met on May 20 to begin its review of the contract <br /> with Lake Johanna Volunteer Fire Department. The Task Force began to develop <br /> a list of issues it believes are key to the upcoming contract negotiations. A <br /> 1 meeting is being scheduled by Lake Johanna either on June 19 or June 26 to meet <br /> with the various City Councils to open up conversations on the contract renewal. <br /> 1 I. Committee Meetings <br /> I have also attended meetings of several other committees during the past month. <br /> 1 m. Council Priorities <br /> The City Council has asked for staff to keep them apprised of the workload issues <br /> 1 related to the priorities established at the 1997 Retreat. Those priorities were: <br /> . Economic Development <br /> . Bricks and Mortar <br /> 1 . Infrastructure <br /> . TCAAP <br /> 1 The development of the GBD is now entering a period of intense activity. Staff is <br /> working with a variety of consultants to assist us with the details of this program. <br /> These consultants include; Steve Apfelbacher and Mark Ruff - Ehlers & <br /> 1 Associates, Bob Deike - Attorney, and Steve Bubal- Bond Counsel. <br /> ,. <br /> 1 <br /> ----- <br />
