The Public Works or Parks <br /> I- foreman will contact the chemical manufacturer of vendor if additional research is necessary or if an <br /> MSDS has not been supplied with an initial shipment. All new procedures for the City of Arden Hills <br /> must be cleared by the Public Works Superintendent. <br /> I Labels and Other Forms of Warn in, <br /> The City of Arden Hills will ensure that all hazardous chemicals in their facilities are properly labeled <br /> I and updated as necessary. Labels should list at least the chemical identity, appropriate hazard <br /> warnings, and name and address of the manufacturer, importer or other responsible party. MSDS <br /> I assists you in verifying label information. Containers that are shipped from the plant will be checked <br /> by the receiving employee to make sure all containers are properly labeled. <br /> I Any City of Arden Hills employee who receives a hazardous chemical for the City must also receive an <br /> MSDS with the chemical and convey the MSDS to the Public WorkslParks foreman for placement in <br /> the master list. <br /> I If there are a number of stationary containers within a work area that have similar contents and hazards, <br /> signs will be posted on them to convey the hazard information. <br /> I If you transfer chemicals from a labeled container to portable container that is intended only for your <br /> immediate use, no labels are required in the portable container. Pipes or piping systems do not have to <br /> .. be labeled but their contents will be described in the training sessions. Immediate use containers, need <br /> not be labeled. <br /> I Non-Routine Tasks <br /> When you are required to perform hazardous non-routine tasks (e.g. cleaning tanks, entering confined <br /> I spaces, etc.) a special training session will be conducted to inform you regarding the hazardous <br /> chemicals to which you might be exposed and the proper precautions to take to reduce or avoid <br /> exposure. <br /> I Trainin!! <br /> Everyone who works with or is potentially exposed to hazardous chemicals will receive initial training <br /> I on the Employee Right-to-Know Standard and the safe use of those hazardous chemicals by their <br /> foreman or superintendent. A program that uses both audiovisual materials and classroom type <br /> training has been prepared for this purpose. Whenever a new hazard is introduced, additional training <br /> I will be provided. Regular safety meetings will also be used to review the information presented in the <br /> initial training. Foremen and other supervisors will be extensively trained regarding hazards and <br /> appropriate protective measures so they will be available to answer questions form employees and <br /> I provide daily monitoring of safe work practices. <br /> I <br /> t- <br /> I <br />
