I
I The Staff is also working with Tycom who is relocating into Arden Hills from Hopkins
on obtaining MIF loan of up to $200,000 for Tycom, Tycom is moving into the building
f' at 3796 North Dunlap Street. Tycom is a precision machine shop which manufacturers
miniature drill bits which are used by the medical industry (dentists) and the computer
industry (drills the holes into the circuit boards). The local representative ofDTED
I brought this request to the City, The Staff would structure this request similar to the CPI
deal in that the City would receive $100,000 plus interest. The good news on this request
is that NSP is providing financial consultant to oversee the loan req uests and this would
I hopefully minimize the Staff involved.
Code Enforcement
I 1. 1369 Forest Lane. As previously mentioned to the City Council, there was a fire which
substantially damaged the home at 1369 Forest Lane. The Staff continues to work with
the Attorney and the property owner to clean up the property and fix the house, before
I complaints start to arrive.
I Recvclin!!:
1. EZ Recycling. The Staff has contacted Chris Reinhardt, President of EZ Recycling, to
discuss his impressions of where the recycling market will be moving in the next two
I years as the contract is coming due in December. Mr. Reinhardt informed Staff that he
was comfortable with the current arrangement and would sign a two year extension with
the City at the current rates if the City wished to.
Ie The current contract that was negotiated by Staff has saved the City $5,305.45 in the 18
months that it has been in place (Exhibit A). Also, the contract has allowed the Staff to
I effectively budget for this department, since the costs of the contract are known ($4,714
per month).
I Miscellaneous
1. Marketing Brochure. The Staff continues to work with Kindred Consulting on the
production of the marketing brochure. Given the schedule of Staff, the consultant and
I Staff have been attempting to complete a page a week. It is anticipated that the final draft
will be available for review in mid-August.
I
I
I
I
..
I
