In all of 1996, the issued building permits which had a total .. <br /> valuation 01'$17,363,947.22. Therefore, in July of 1997, the City issued building permits <br /> which a total valuation that was 44 percent of the total building permits that were issued <br /> in all of 1996. I <br /> The first commerciallindustrial permit of July (# 5756) involved a $435.000 industrial <br /> remodeling permit for Tycom (see Economic Development section. item #2) at 3796 I <br /> North Dunlap Street. The second commercial/industrial permit (# 5758) involved a <br /> $22,000 interior remodel of some first floor offices at 3900 Northwoods Drive, The third <br /> commercial/industrial permit (#5764) involved a $50.000 kitchen addition to the I <br /> Ukrainian Church at 1660 Highway 96. The fourth commercial/industrial permit (#5775) <br /> involved a $28,000 office remodel at 8 Pine Tree Drive for Facilitech, The fifth <br /> commercial/indllstrial permit (#5777) involved a $6,310,4 78 building permit for the I <br /> Church Support Facilities for the North Heights Lutheran Church addition at 1700 <br /> Highway 96. Lastly, the sixth commercial/industrial permit (#5778) involved a $13,800 I <br /> remodel at 3728 north Dunlap Street. <br /> In July, the City issued two new residential (single family) construction permits which I <br /> had a total value of $499,870. In June, the City issued 29 residential remodeling permits <br /> which ranged in value from $600.00 to $145,000.00 and had a total value 01'$317,851.00 <br /> and had an average value 01'$10,960.37. .;I <br />2. Sign Permits. In July, the City issued no sign permits. <br />Economic DevcloJlment I <br />1. Gateway Business District. The Staff' met with a representative (Darrell Anderson of <br /> the Design Partnership) of Vaughn Properties on July 22, 1997. Mr. Anderson expressed I <br /> an interest on behalf of his client to have a full right-of-way (60 feet) provided to their <br /> property line. The Staff informed Mr. Anderson that it would be willing to work with <br /> them on this issue. Also, Mr. Anderson informed Staff that the owner would like to I <br /> develop this property at some point in the future, but would like keep the tower as it <br /> represents $100,000 per year in income to the owner. The Staff expressed concern I <br /> regarding development of the site if the tower is left in place. The Staff also discussed <br /> traffic improvement/management and aesthetic issues which affect the property. <br /> The Staff also met with Dick Rosa, CEO of the Nott Company (4480 Round Lake Road) I <br /> to discuss activities within the GBD. Mr. Rosa was pleased to see the traffic <br /> improvement and management items which are planned for the area. Mr. Rosa expressed I <br /> an interest in purchasing the corner of Highway 96 and Round Lake Road, if it should <br /> come available. Lastly, Mr. Rosa requested police assistance in trying to get people to <br /> stop at the stop sign at the top of the off ramp from I-35W before they enter Highway 96. I <br />2. Minnesota Investment Fund (MIF). The Staff is currently working on completing the <br /> Phase II application for CPI for $300,000 forgivable loan/loan from DTED.
