DRAFT
_ Mr. Fritsinger stated his v,illingness to work with the County on an alternate
location. The City has the R-O-W needed and most of the funding except for
bridges and asked the County "are you unwilling to work with us?"
Mr. Holmberg responded they need to put a trail along Highway 96.
Mr. Fritsinger again reiterated his question as to the unwillingness ofthe County to
work with the City. You keep referring to this as "us" and "you" rather than "we".
Are you willing to work with us on the options available to resolve the location of
the trail?
Mr. Holmberg stated the County won't abandon the trail proposed for Highway 96.
He believes the trail should be direct and parallel to the highway, and won't
recommend any change. However, his supervisors will have the last say. He also
stated if the trail is constructed as proposed and proves unsafe in the future, the
County could look at other options at that time because the County won't have all
that much money into it.
Mr. Tolaas informed the City that a ponding area will need to be placed somewhere
in the north side of Round Lake and to keep this in mind when planning City trails.
_ Mr. Fritsinger told the County they need to meet in relationship to other issues
related to the Gateway Project and that Arden Manor residents are wondering what
is going to happen to them.
Mr. Tolaas reiterated that Arden Manor won't hold up construction. One option
would be to take the complete block on the south side of Todd Drive. The funding
- for the I-35W bridge has not been found and discussion with State Aid officials need
- to be held. The 1-35W Bridge alone will cost 5 million and is still scheduled for
1998, but probably 1999. Other funding for project is also in jeopardy. Plans will
I be completed anyway so work can be done as money is available.
I Chairman Tholen said Arden Hills keeps getting pushed back.
Mr. Tolaas said there are so many hurdles. The Pond will need to be seven (7) acre
I feet near the Indykiewicz property. He also stated Mr. Indykiewicz has contacted
him wondering what is going on and why the County had not talked to him.
I Mr. Fritsinger stated he is waiting to find out exactly what the County plan is so he
can give Mr. Indykiewicz additional information.
I
I- 6
I
~_u__
