I
Most of the "No Parking" zones in the industrial areas have gotten their curbs painted yellow. I
This is done every three to four years. --
A driveway apron on Stowe A venue was jack hammered out and replaced. The resident had
been complaining as the portion of his driveway replaced in 1995 during reconstruction, was
the only portion of his driveway which was falling apart. The warranty was no longer in I
effect, and the after my inspection, I agreed with the resident and elected to replace it in-
house. Mr. Richard Wallace of 1959 Stowe Avenue, is happy with the replacement.
A good deal of weed cutting has been done around hydrants and signs. However, much more I
is needed due to all the rain.
1996 Street Proiect I
Schifsky workers only recently started correcting final punch list items. Staff hopes they
complete this work which included replacing some curbing, patching some driveways, and I
some grading on Oak Avenue and Lake Johanna Boulevard.
1997 Street Pro i ect I
Fred Reed, the lead person for the City streets, and I walked the street projects and compiled a
punch list with the MSAfHoward R. Green inspector. We have asked that the punch list of I
corrections be completed prior to the final lift of paving. Valley Paving has been working on
this list, which shouldn't take over three or four days to complete.
The slurry coat, which will be tried on Snelling Avenue from Highway 96 south to Briarknoll ~
Circle, was to be applied this week, but will now be rescheduled for next week due to rain.
Several surrounding cities are using this technique more and more. The claimed benefits of I
this application are: no loose material; variations are leveled; long lasting; skid resistant; and
the dark black enhances snow melt.
The odor problem on Hamline Avenue north of County Road E is back to "square one." I I
met on site with Mr. Stonehouse and agreed that his plan to correct the problem would not
work. Mr. Stonehouse will now look into other options, such as chlorinating the sewage at I
the Bethel College lift station. Staff and the City Engineer clearly understand the City
Council's desire to correct this problem as soon as possible.
DS/sls I
M:IUSERSISHEILAIADMtNIPUBWORKSIMONTHL Y.MEM I
I
I
..
I
