... I rinks on Sundays. The hockey associations arc also obligated for ice time at the Ramsey County I system on Sundays. The associations can not use all of the time that day and are hoping to change some of the prime time ice to another day of the week. We are working with Ramsey _I County and the MASC to resolve the conflicts in ice time. I will be attending another meeting on Monday morning. The Cities would like to schedule some ice time for various special events. Facilities Assessment I The study was presented to the City Mayors and Managers on October 21. There were a number of deficiencies in fields and gym space identified by the study. The group decided to I have a drawing and cost estimates done to serve as a discussion item and starting point for identifying funding. At the present time, this type offacility would have to be built on the TCAAP property or the Shoreview University of Minnesota land. The group will meet again in I January to discuss the proposed plan. I will be working with the other cities, youth associations, and a landscape architect to develop the plan. " I Cummings Park Wash out Repair GleIm Rehbein Construction is in the final stages of finishing the repair at Cummings Park. They should have the project completed by the end of the week. I anticipate having the pay I estimate on the November 10 City Council meeting. Parks and Rccreation Commission I The commission will meet on October 28 to discuss their ideas for the redevelopment of Tony Schmidt Park. They will also be involved with staff in hosting a meeting for the residents around eI Freeway and Lindeys Park areas. The meeting will give residents an opportunity to discuss the play structure location and other potential upgrades to the park areas. I will also solicit ideas for naming the park area currently referred to as Lindeys. I Recreation Programs The Halloween Pumpkin Hunt will be held on Friday, October 24 at Valentine Hills Elementary I School. There are 60 participants signed up. Each participant is required to have a parent present to help them find a pumpkin and carve it. The participants will also playa variety of games during the event. We also offered a Family Halloween Hayride during the month of I October and had 25 participants sign up. After school programs consisting of crafts, keyboard lessons, and sports classes are under way. I Staff is working on the Turkey shoot, which is a special event that we offer on November 20. In this event, teams of parents and children compete in a series of games. I Park Maintenance The maintenance staff have been cleaning up and recycling steel, wood and concrete that have I been stored outside the maintenance facility. It has accumulated from old play structures and other debris clean up. They have also been maintaining soccer fields for our fall youth soccer program. The season is coming to a close and the maintenance staff will be taking down nets, I goals, and temporary fencing. 2 -- I
