The minutes of the October I, 1997 Planning Commission meeting have been <br /> provided\mder separate cover. <br />I Case #97-05. PUD Amendment - exterior buildin!! materials. North Heights Lutheran Church. <br /> 1700 West Hi~hway 96 <br />I A. Request. The North Heights Lutheran Church (NHLC) is requesting approval of a <br /> modification to the materials used on the exterior elevation oftheir building addition (Exhibit <br /> A). <br />.. B. Background. As part of the approval of the original PUD for the NHLC (Planning Case <br /> 84-21) the minutes of the May 13, 1984 Cily Council minutes reflect that Reverend Peterson <br />I ofNHLC stated: "... North Heights definitely wants the exterior surface of the structure to <br /> be brick in the areas that are not to be removed for expansion purposes; noted that "dry-vit" <br /> panels or wood panels are proposed in warm colors, to harmonize with the earth-tone brick." <br />I The motion for approval (Planning Case 84-21) states the following: "Hansen moved to <br /> approve the Planned Unit Development, Stage 1, General Plan and issuance of Planned Unit <br />I Development Permit, contingent upon Planning Commission review of the detailed plans of <br /> the symbol and exterior building surfacing materials and subsequent Council approval. <br /> Hicks seconded the motion and moved to amend the motion to add Council's approval of the <br />I brick exterior surface of the worship center, excluding the three expansion sides from brick <br /> (approving non-brick on the expansion sides). Amendment was accepted by Hansen." The <br /> motion carried unanimously 5-0. <br />I The Planning Commission on April 2, 1997 recommended approval of the Planned Unit <br /> Development (PUD) amendment to construct a 93,816 square foot Community Life Center <br />I to the NHLC, in Planning Case 97-05. In the Staff report, which supported this <br /> recommendation the Staff stated in the Building section that: "The exterior of the proposed <br /> building addition consists of face brick which will match the brick on the existing portion <br />I of the building. The two cupola's will match the prefinished standing seam metal roof that <br /> was used on the existing roof. The building will be fully sprinkereled." The City Council <br /> on April 28, 1997 approved the PUD amendment to construct a 93,816 square foot <br />.. Community Life Center to the NHLC, in Planning Case 97-05. <br />I <br />
