The driveway that we have installed is a finished surface made up of <br /> packed crushed gravel (driveway trap). While it is not a paved surface, it is also not a dirt surface <br /> that washes Out With the change of seasons. This sulfite Was chosen for both aesthetic reasOiiS as <br /> it matches the landscape plan ofthe improved property overall and because, while it provides a <br /> finished driveway surface, it also provides a pervious surface to allow rainwater to flow through to <br /> the roots of the trees that are in close proximity to the driveway. The current finish is as shown on <br /> the original plans and is in the condition that existed when the occupancy permit was granted. <br /> The surtace is in keeping with the spirit of the ordinance in that it is an improved surface and <br /> provides an aesthetically congruent finish for the lot and maintains the quality of the <br /> neighborhood. The finished surface of the driveway also is sufficient to ensure that the city streets <br /> remain clean. <br /> . The footprint of the house and the garage are the only impervious surfaces on the lot. Impervious <br /> surface as a percentage of the overall lot size is approximately 18.5%. The proposal to leave the <br /> driveway in its existing form keeps the impervious surface percentage at 18.5%. <br /> The U-tufii drive adds abOut 180-200 square feet of driveway surface OVCT what was showl1 011 the <br /> original plan and the area remains a pervious surface. If a variance is, in fact; required this is what <br /> we request; however, the lot is improved as approved by the building department and has been in <br /> place since the completion of the home. As you can see by the enclosed photos, the driveway <br /> surface provides a nice finish to the home and the lot overall. <br /> It is our anticipation that thc city will take the actions necessary to either approve the existing <br /> improvements as non-conforming but existing conditions or to grant a variance to adjust the <br /> paperwork held by the city to match the lot conditions that have been approved by the city <br /> building department and have been constructed on our lot. <br /> Please feel free to contact me with any questions. <br /> 1~;?-4 <br /> B ad Lis <br /> 1548 Arden Place West <br /> .
