S~p 26 06 08:57a Admin. SVCS 763-212-5440 p.2
September 25, 2006 .
Mr. James Lehnhoff
City of Arden J.Tills
1245 West Highway 96
Arden Hills, MN 551 12
RE: Brad and Sarah Lis Lot
Lot 28, Block 2, Arden Hills, Ramsey County, MN
Dear Mr. Lehnhoff:
Upon receipt of the Public Hearing Noticc, we received calls from a couple of our
neighbors stating that they wholeheartedly supported OUr variance request so that the
current driveway condition could rcmain tllichanged. We want to ensure that what we are
asking tor is compatible with the thoughts of our neighbors, so we have drawn up and
gathered signatures per the attached petition in favor of granting the variances.
The signatures were gathered during the afternoon uf 9/24. The response was
overwhelming in favor of granting the varianees. Several of the persons that signed were
vehemently opposed to the idea of paving over the roots ofthe trees. In addition, the u-
shaped drive is viewed as a nice and creative way to accomplish the nceds of a driveway
and prescrving trees at the same timc - providing two 15 foot curb cuts is cssentially
similar to providing one 30 toot curb cut and, in this instance, is necessary and much .
more cnviromnentally friendly. Part of the allure of our neighborhood is that it is not a
cookie-cutter development that has every lot developed in the same manner. The site
improvements as they currently exist provide an environmentally friendly finish, promote
safety, and add positively to the varicty and character of this neighborhood.
Finally, since we worked with (he city srofJ' to finalize site conditions at the time of
construction. we believe that the improvcments that are currently in place have been
already blessed by the city; therefore, this should be no more than a routine approval that
could be placed on the consent agenda.
Please include this letter and the attached petition in your packet to the Planning
Commission and City COl.UlciJ.
~~~
(-~ ,
Brad Lis
1548 Arden Place West
Arden Hills, MN 551 ] 2
651~628-9361 (H)
612-802-4320 (C)
.
