.
.
. September 8, 2006
Page 2
The plan also shows a rain water garden that will intercept run off from the rear portion
of our lot. This will allow for additional infiltration of storm water on the site. As a
result, run off from the property will be decreased. In addition, we will consult with the
Rice Creek Watershed District to determine a plan for an effective buffer along the
shoreline of Lake Johanna. This will improve upon the current appearance of our
shoreline and result in an improved quality of water that could reach the lake.
We have submitted an application to the Rice Creek Watershed District regarding our
proposed project, including the rain water garden referred to above. We have already
received conditional approval of our plans. A copy of recent correspondence received
from the Watershed District confirming their approval is attached for your reference.
For your infornlation, the landscape plan has also been reviewed by Ramsey County
since much of the proposed landscaping exists within the County Road right-of-way.
Please note that Mr. Ken Haider, Director of Ramsey County Public Works, has approved
and signed off on the attached copy of the plan that is included in this packet of
information.
. We do not wish to imply in any way that we do not have regrets about removing trees in
a marmer inconsistent with the City's ordinance. We hope that you understand, however,
that many of the trees were removed to make room for our home. Most of the other trees
removed are considered undesirable species as summarized in the attached letter from St.
Croix Tree Service, Inc..
In summary, we are committed to installing significant landscaping as part of our home
building project. We are confident that the proposed plan will improve upon the quality
of the vegetation that previously existed on this site and it will be an attractive addition to
the area. At the same time, the proposed site improvements will help manage storm
water run offfrom the property and improve the quality of water that does make its way
to Lake Joharma.
Thank you for your consideration of our request.
Sincerely,
~~
Dr. Hien Ngo and Nguyet Ky
Enclosures
.
