27 <br />o (Sub)contractor will allow vegetation growth to occur between applications to allow for the treatment to take full effect. <br />x Spot Mowing: <br />o Invasive forbs that follow a biennial or annual life cycle will be mowed at the appropriate times (per instructions from GRG <br />project manager) to inhibit/ prevent seed production. <br />o Workers will use appropriate mowing equipment (e.g. weed whips, brush cutters, brush hogs) to mow target species. <br />o Target plants should be mowed to soil level. <br />o Workers must take care to avoid collateral damage to non-target plants <br />Prescribed Fire x Contractor requirements: <br />o Have one or more designated burn bosses at or equivalent to a RXB2 designation. <br />o Provide evidence of qualifications of burn boss, including training, experience (years and number of burns), and history (any <br />escapes or other burn incidents). <br />o Have members of the burn crew with a minimum training in S-130 and S-190 or equivalent. <br />o Have all crew members and burn boss complete an annual safety refresher and passed an annual physical fitness test prior <br />to conducting the burn(s) (RT130 or equivalent). <br />o Provide evidence that burn boss has led burns of similar complexity with similar fuel types. <br />o Supply all necessary equipment. <br />o Provide PPE to all crew members, including but not limited to the equipment listed below. <br />o Provide certification of adequate insurance coverage. <br />o Provide two references of similar projects that were successfully completed. <br />x Access and Staging: <br />o Vehicle access is allowed for the preparation of burn breaks, conducting the burn, and for mop-up. <br />o Service Provider will keep trails leading into the property open and accessible following the fire. <br />o Service Provider is to work with Landowner to ensure necessary trails and field roads are closed to protect visitors during <br />running fire. <br />x Personnel Safety: <br />o It is the Service Provider’s responsibility to provide qualified personnel full PPE for all crew, and all equipment, materials, and <br />supplies, necessary to carry out the various tasks. <br />o Full PPE requires a minimum of: <br />Shirt and pants that meet NFPA Certification. <br />Leather gloves. <br />Hard hat; Shrouds that meet NFPA Certification are to be available to crew members who request them. <br />Safety goggles or safety glasses with side shields. <br />Leather boots. <br />Fire shelters are to be available to crew members who request them. <br />All crew must have radios or similar means of communication.
