IZ- <br />AN ORDINANCE AFENDING ORDINANCE NO. <br />105, RELATING TO THE HUMAN RIGHTS <br />COM14ISSION, BY ENLARGING THE COMPO- <br />SITION THEREOF AND PROVIDING SPEC- <br />IFIC QUALIFICATIONS FOR REGULAR AND <br />AD HOC MEMBERS THEREOF; AND REPEALING <br />ORDINANCE NO. 115. <br />The Village Council of the Village of Arden Hills does <br />hereby ordain as follows: <br />Section 1. Amendment of Ordinance No. 105. <br />Section 4 of Ordinance 105, relating to the Human Rights <br />Commission, is hereby amended in its entirety to read as fol- <br />lows: <br />Section 4. Composition of Commission. The Commission <br />shall consist of ten 10) regular members to be appointed <br />by Mayor and with the advice and consent of the Council. <br />Additional ad hoc members, requested by the Chairman of <br />the Commission for special projects, may also be appoint- <br />ed to serve thereon by the Mayor and with the advice and <br />consent of the Council. Both regular and ad hoc mem- <br />bers of the Commission shall be an--.)ointed with due re- <br />gard to their fitness for the efficient dispatch of the <br />functions, powers and duties v(:s t:', i in and imposed upon <br />the Commission. <br />At least eight (8) of the regular mer-bers of the Conmis- <br />sion shall be a minimum of twenty-one (21) years of <br />age and each such adult member, after the original ap- <br />pointments, shall be appointed for a term of three (3) <br />years, except that any person appointed to fill a vacancy <br />occurring prior to the expiration of the term for which <br />his predecessor was appointed shall be appointed only <br />for the remainder of such term. The regular members of. the <br />Commission who are less than twenty-one (21) years of <br />age shall be appointed for one (1) year terms. Upon the <br />expiration of his term of office, a regular member shall <br />continue to serve until hi-s successor is apnoi.nted and <br />shall have qualified. To insure regularity in the com- <br />position of the Commission, the first year of any term of <br />a regular member shall be deemed to end at the expiration <br />of the calendar year in which the appointment is made. <br />Ad hoc members shall be appointed for one year (1) terms, <br />which shall be deemed to have expired at the end of the <br />calendar year in which the appointment is made. <br />-1- <br />
